I will never EVER grow tired of hearing Jamie Graham’s vocals, adored him in Sylosis, adored him in Heart of a Coward, and I still adore him in Viscera. This is the bands second album, their first was absolutely crushing and their second looks like it’s going to blast down the same road. That title single though, “Carcinogenesis” is coming purely to rupture those eardrums, the eerie start does nothing to prepare you, the drummer needs a raise. “Rats With Rings” reads as pigeons to me, but I digress, it’s tasty and crunchy which is exactly what was required. “Layers of Skin” has that eerie melodic element with vocals tinted with pain and fear, it’s something Jamie has been good at in every and he’s been in so far, “Sungazer” is the same style except this time it’s it’s a bit more in your face looking for a scrap. All in all, I don’t like to say it but it doesn’t have the same intensity and the tracks don’t hit quite as hard as their debut, it’s still early days and they’ve got plenty of time to find their sound but I just hope that includes the same sort of feel that the last album
smashed.
