Avatar are a Swedish group that came together in 2001 and have since gone on to smash out 8 studio albums. The band attempted to enter a comedy metal era with it’s previous album, but with this new release they have declared the end to the Avatar Country era and instead now wish for fans to come “Hunt With Us”, let’s find out what that means.

“Colossus” is pure filth, it has a simple yet very dirty heavy riff and bass line which compliment the animalistic growls of the chorus line, but seriously what a song. “Gun” hit me in a peculiar way because I wasn’t expecting a ballad to be included here, it really shows the range and just how musically inclined they are moving from stylistic techniques of one genre to another almost flawlessly. “Wormhole” starts off like a band tuning up but then flows through to be one hell of a progressive metal style track with strange twists and turns with a dirty tone that can clean itself off for periods of soothing out of world experiences. If you want to talk about songs with a sinister and eerie edge look no further than “Child”, that nature of innocence in conjunction with the types of growls and tones used make for a really creepy song.

So the circus of heavy metal and strange vibes continues to flow in full swing it would appear, very strongly actually and this new darker twist in the band’s style I feel is going to be extremely well received by their fan base.
